Math is valuable

I just realized yesterday as I was working my math problems that someone, at some point, had to come up with the idea that there were numbers. And every step I worked, I realized someone had to discover that step. Someone a long time ago used their brians just enough to realize that you could take some numbers and so somethings with those numbers you couldn't do with others....am I making any sense?
